BREEDING MEAL / CUBES 14%

Class: Concentrated Feed for Broodmares, Yearlings, Weanlings and Stallions
Reg. No. V20590 (Act / Wet 36/1947)

This fully balanced feed is specifically formulated for broodmares during pregnancy and lactation and is also suitable for stallions, weanlings and growing young stock.

The last trimester of pregnancy is a very important stage in foetal development. Forty percent of foetal skeletal structure develops during this period and therefore it is crucial that the pregnant mare is fed a high quality balanced diet. During this period the growth of the foal increases the mare’s nutrient requirements whilst at the same time the mare’s capacity to consume large quantities of feed diminishes. A good quality balanced feed is therefore of utmost importance.

Native pony mares may not need extra energy and protein but would still need higher levels of amino acids, minerals, trace minerals and vitamins during this period. During early lactation the mare’s metabolism will produce milk at any cost. Any reduction in feed energy intake below the mare’s requirements will result in the lactating mare loosing condition.

Stallions also have additional nutritional demands depending on their workload and stud duties.

When feeding young stock it is important to monitor growth rates and feed intake so that a sooth growth-curve is achieved. This will ensure good bone density and strength.
